Congrats to the Boston Red Sox, 2013 World Champs!

After last year’s disaster under the reign of Bobby Valentine, who blamed beer and fried chicken in the clubhouse for the problems he created, the Boston Red Sox were resurrected to unanticipated heights this year, thanks primarily to the leadership of

manager John Farrell. Amazing what a REAL MAJOR LEAGUE MANAGER can do for a team, isn’t it, empty uniform non manager don mattingly?

With amazing clutch contributions from the likes of Shane Victorino and Jonny Gomes, great pitching efforts from Jon Lester, John Lackey, and the entire Red Sox bullpen,

and above all, a Series for the ages, including a .733 batting average, from a guy who the experts said just a couple of years ago had nothing left and could not produce without Manny Ramirez batting behind him – 2013 World Series MVP, David “Popi” Ortiz!

Enjoy it today, as while the team has young stars in the likes of Dustin Pedroia and Daniel Nava, and untapped major talent in players like Will Middlebrooks and Xander Bogearts, there are major question marks going forward, such as the likelihood of Jacoby Ellsbury leaving in free agency, the health of pitchers Clay Buchholz, Joel Hanrahan, and Andrew Bailey, and that monster in the Bronx that appears like it will have a ton of money to spend on free agents this fall.

Finally, it was great to see one of my all time favorites, John Lackey, win the clincher, just as he did 11 years ago in 2002′s game seven, as the Angels won their only world championship against the Giants.
